Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, household or industrial appliances, applying intermediate frequency (IF) band magnetic field (MF) such as induction heating hob, wireless power transmission system, and so on, are increasing in these number of use. Because of present situation, appropriate measurement system for IF MF is desired to evaluate exposure condition. Therefore, we intend to develop an optical magnetic field sensor which has high spatial resolution and low disturbance to MF, since the characteristics of MF sources are highly localized distribution in the vicinity of appliances. In this study, Bi-substituted rare-earth Iron Garnet (BiRIG) is employed as Faraday rotator element. Verdet constant is estimated for this BiRIG element to obtain relationship between incident MF and rotation angle of the plane of polarization. A prototype MF measurement system with coils to apply MF is fabricated on the optical table. As a preliminary experiment, 33 Hz MF up to 6 mT is applied to the BiRIG element, and the linearity is confirmed between the input MF strength and the rotation angle of the plane of polarization as output voltage.
