Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper proposes a model computer and its simulator for use in computer architecture education. The architecture of the model computer is almost the same as that of a commercial one-chip microcomputer and has the minimum functions required for a computer. The simulator for the model computer can be used to visualize the data and control flow in the computer to understand easily the cooperative operations between hardware and software. This paper also presents simple hardware and its use with the simulator for understanding asynchronous operations such as interrupts. The proposed model computer and simulator are evaluated by comparing exam results of computer architecture students. Questionnaire results are also discussed regarding the usefulness of the simulator.
