Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A big earthquake not only destroys buildings and highways but also triggers fires and tsunami. As a result, many people suffer from such a disaster. If we know the occurrence of the earthquake in advance, then our suffering would be reduced. Although studies of the earthquake prediction are done, scientific forecast like a weather report is not established. In this study, we propose a method of guantifying microearthquake data using thedetrended fluctuation analysis (DFA). We apply our method to real data from NIED (National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention) and show the effectiveness of our method.
