Dynamic Image Segmentation using Oscillatory Responses Observed in a Coupled System of One-dimensional Discrete-time Oscillators

Abstract(in English) We propose a novel discrete-time coupled system generating oscillatory responses by periodic points with high order of period or non-periodic points. The coupled system consists of one-dimensional oscillators on the basis of the Rulkov map and a globally coupled oscillator. Since the waveform of the one-dimensional oscillator has the precipitous peaks, the coupled system is effective when we use the system for the dynamic image segmentation. On the basis of the result of bifurcation analysis of the fix point observed in the system, we clarify parameter regions in which the oscillatory response appears. In this study, we applied the oscillatory responses of the proposed system to the dynamic image segmentation. In addition, we demonstrated that the system could work well for a gray-level image with three isolated image regions at parameter values that we obtained by the bifurcation analysis.
