Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In many applications of remote control, reliability of control is the essential requirement. On the other hand, the communication media possible for these applications are not always reliable. If radio communication is used, for example, random and burst errors are inevitable. This requested talk illustrates topics necessary to be known for the realization of reliable control with unreliable communication. After introducing several important applications of remote control, the talk clarifies the differences of conventional and control communications from the viewpoint of performance measures of communication for control, or M2M. Then it is explained that the cross-layer optimization of control and communication is possible and necessary.
