Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In order to achieve highly efficient spectrum sharing, we have proposed the measurement-based spectrum database. This database can be considered as a hybrid system between the spectrum sensing and the spectrum database. The database consists of radio environment information measured by SUs with mobility (e.g. vehicles and cellular phones). The SUs measure the received signals from PUs while the SUs move without transmission signals for secondary use. The collected dataset is related to the measurement location, and is reported to the database. After enough data gathering, the database estimates radio environment characteristics of PUs by statistical conversion with the enormous dataset. Since the data with actual propagation loss and shadowing are stored, the accurate channel status can be estimated. SUs can then estimate the signal power of PU located near the SUs, and set communication parameters of SUs without harmful interference to PUs based on the estimation result. Because there are numberless vehicles around the world today and that have high mobility, we consider that vehicles are suitable for probing sensors especially. These features of vehicles enable the database to gather the measurement data rapidly and widely, thus the radio environment can be estimated accurately with global dataset. We had conducted a field test of constructing the proposed spectrum database with sensors on vehicles to verify the estimation accuracy over TV bands in Japan for two weeks. This demonstration will exhibit a video of an overview of the field test and a measurement system mounted on a probing vehicle based on USRP N210. The sensing program is implemented on the USRP N210 software defined radio platforms using GNU radio software, and launched on a laptop computer. Through the demonstration, statistical comparison results with a propagation model-based radio environment estimation technique will also be shown.
