Abstract(in English) The standardization of Long Term Evolution-Advanced (LTE-A) is conducted and adopted by many countries to solve the traffic expansion problem. One of the new positive aspects of LTE-A is heterogeneous networks (HetNets), where many small cells whose transmission power is relatively small are located inside an area covered by macrocells, and another important aspect of LTE-A is coordinated multipoint (CoMP) transmission, where two or more base stations transmit data in a cooperative manner. In the era of HetNets, the planning of small cells becomes more difficult than that of macrocells because conventional SINR-based cell designs are insufficient at increasing the network capacity. In this paper, we present a low computational cost algorithm for a throughput-based small cell design technique in consideration of joint transmission (JT) CoMP transmission by utilizing criteria for maximizing the Proportional Fairness (PF) utility function. Even in a complex environment where the user eqipment (UE) distribution is spatially biased and macrocells and pico-cells coexist, our proposed method achieves the same performance as the conventional method with a lower number of pico-cells.
