Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Research on the combination of heterogeneous networks (HetNets) and splitting the control and user planes (C/U splitting) has gained momentum in both the mobile communication industry and the research community. In a C/U-splitting HetNet, both high mobility and large capacity can be achieved by separately manipulating the control plane in macro-cells and the user plane in small cells. To prove the concept of a C/U-splitting HetNet, we implemented such a system in our prototype hardware and evaluated its performance. In this report, the overview of C/U-splitting architecture and design of our C/U-splitting prototype are presented.
