Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) With the spread of usersof portable smartphones and tablets, personal authentication based on handwritten characters/figures on such a portable device could be a key technology which contributes to the creation of a secure social environment. However, on portable devices, handwriting area is too small to write complicated characters such as Kanji. This means that the xy coordinates of the touch positions are not measured precisely and it makes impossible to authenticate writer correctly. In addition, multi-level pressure information which is effective to authenticate writers is not acquired by a portable device. In order to develop the owner authentication system of the portable device, we extract touching time duration and touching angle of each segment as individual features. As a result using handwritten sign by 6 smartphone owners, it is found that 77% authentication rate is obtained with both features. This is 9% improvement in comparison with the result using touching time duration only.
