Abstract(in English) | 60GHz-band is considered to be suitable for the non-contact large-sized file transmission since the band has very high propagation attenuation characteristics. As new 60GHz wireless standards beyond IEEE802.11ad wireless local area network (WLAN), standardization activities are in progress. Discussions in such activities includes high-speed non-contact file transmission as one of important and promising applications of 60GHz short-range wireless transmission. In the "touch-and-get" use, for example, to transfer a large-sized data file of several gigabytes which corresponds an two-hours movie we believe that 100Gbit/s transmission rate is essential. Though 60-GHz unlicensed band has a large bandwidth, adoption of merely highly-multi-level modulation will hardly provides 100Gbit/s transmission rate. Hence it is necessary to utilize spatial division multiplexing to achieve this. In non-contact file transmission application, transmission distance is very short and the line-of -sight propagation is dominant. In such propagation environment, short-range MIMO (multiple-input and multiple-output) employing appropriate element spacing in the array antennas transmission is effective. This report shows the performance of ultra-high speed non-contact transmission system employing 16-branch short-range MIMO transmission. Relationships between bit-error rate (BER) and transmission rate, signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and antenna displacement are quantified using electromagnetic simulations of transmission channel and modem simulations of signal transmission over 60-GHz band. |
