Wide area electric field strength measurement of DTV broadcasting for TV white space area estimation

Abstract(in English) In order to use TV white space (TVWS), it is necessary to fulfill the interference protection conditions between the service area of primary user as broadcasting service and the interference risk area of secondary user using TVWS. The electric field strength of a primary user service area is defined by the Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications announcement No. 640 in 1960, however, there are few examples of verification by measurement. Moreover, it is necessary to confirm whether the model is applicable in the propagation environment changed by urbanization in recent years and to antenna heights previously unattainable. In order to validate the propagation model of the announcement No. 640, the electric field strength of the broadcasting signal transmitting from a station has been measured in south Kanto area, and the measured results compared with the estimation is examined.
