Development of Organic Phase Change Materials for Optical Data Storage

Abstract(in English) We synthesized new organic compound by introducing appropriate substituents to anthracene and found that the obtained anthracene derivative showed photoinduced phase change between crystalline and solid-state amorphous phases. Using this compound, we successfully demonstrated reversible optical data storage. In addition, a polymer derived from the compound enabled us to perform gray scale photo patterning. We also realized optical data storage using composite material consisting of the anthracene compound and another polymer.
