Radiation Characteristics of Grating-Assisted Optical Disk Resonators

Abstract(in English) Out-of-plane radiation characteristics of optical disc resonator having azimuthal periodic structures were investigated. We first simulated electromagnetic fields of resonant modes at the surface of the disk by a FDTD-assisted approximation method. Then far-field patterns were calculated by utilizing vector diffraction theory. According to the test calculation for a SiN/SiO_2 resonator of diameter=10μm for λ=1.55μm, we confirmed that the resonant modes with orbital angular momentum (OAM) of 0, 1, 2 exhibited far-field radiation with angular extent of about ±9°.
