Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Advanced nations including Japan are facing aging societies. Aging decreases the ability in speech communication. In this paper, aging effect on speech is investigated in the viewpoint of static characteristics. Japanese words uttered by 21 elderly speakers, of which ages range from 64 years old to 87 years old, are used for calculating their power spectra. Concerning Japanese five vowels, the power spectra are calculated only using the initial phonemes of the words. The power spectra for elderly speakers decrease in the frequency range between 2.5 kHz and 4.5 kHz, and increase in higher frequency range over 4.5 kHz.
