Abstract(in English) | Recently, downsizing and high-density integration are required for planar lightwave circuits (PLCs). To realize these features, raising reflective index difference (Δ) between a core and a clad of the PLC is effective. However, in a conventional PLC with GeO2 doped core, it is difficult to raise A above 2.5%. Then, using ZrO_2 as a dopant, we developed an ultra-high ΔPLC which far exceeds Δ of the conventional PLC. And, we report design and characteristics of a compact coherent mixer and spot size converters (SSCs) with low coupling loss based on the ultra-high ΔPLC. |
