Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This report presents the performance of joint detection and decoding on the higher-order modulation signal that consists of spatially multiplexed signal streams with lower-order modulation. Due to its form factor, a small receiver may not be able to increase a throughput with multi-input multi-output (MIMO) technique. In that case, a higher-order modulation symbol such as 256QAM is employed. With the use of higher-order modulation, a symbol error rate depends on the smallest distance among the signal constellation points. This leads to the degradation of bit error rate (BER) performance after decoding. Thus, in the proposed scheme, the signal streams with lower-order modulation are spatially multiplexed. At the receiver, the spatially multiplexed signal is jointly decoded after joint maximum likelihood detection. With the proposed scheme, the higher order modulation signal can be realized and lower BER performance can be achieved. The numerical results obtained through computer simulation and theoretical analysis show that the proposed scheme can realize better bit error rats and higher transmission rates than those with space time codes.
