Abstract(in Japanese) | (See Japanese page) |
Abstract(in English) | The "mode of color appearance (in short, mode)" is a concept suggesting that difference in the medium that emits, transmits, or reflects light could cause difference in color appearance. For example, the same lights that appear brown/ gray as object surface may appear orange/ white, respectively, when the light was emitted from light sources. The present study investigated relationships between material perception and perceived mode in terms of luminosity. The result showed that mode percept was clearly affected by the material of diffuse component of the object surface, while glossiness and color did not affect the result. The luminosity percept was a linear function of L^*, but they were off the line when the material was recognizable. |
