Abstract(in English) We have proposed a multiband sector antenna with multiple reflectors employing the metamaterial for a base station antenna of mobile communication systems employing sector cell. The reflector employing woodpile metamaterial that consists of layers of dielectric rods with a stacking sequence has a electromagnetic band gap (EBG) characteristics, and can reflect the electromagnetic waves of the desired band (EBG band) and transmit those of the specific bands. The metamaterial reflector affects to the electromagnetic waves of the undesired band that metamaterial reflector transmits the electromagnetic waves. The beamwidth adjustment is difficult by the effect of the metamaterial reflector. This report clarifies the effect to other frequency band by the metamaterial reflector, and proposes the beamwidth adjustment algorithm in consideration of EBG. The proposed antenna has designed 90° beamwidth in the horizontal plane of each frequency band (800 MHz and 2 GHz), and the measurements well match the electromagnetic field simulations.
