Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Composition and comprehension of technical English require the understanding of expressions and usages which are different from general English. Therefore, collection of region-specific academic vocabularies is an important issue. To researchers belonging to some specific institutions, the presence of such vocabularies with fine granularity particularly helps. In our study, the authors have attempted to build them using IR, or, Institutional Repositories. The problem is that the number of publications uploaded to IR system is often insufficient. This has led us to make course changes to take advantage of English abstracts in academic papers as a complement of language resources. We also discuss the characteristics and comparisons of the vocabulary lists obtained from IR and English abstracts.
