Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Bidirectional traffic flow appears in multi-sink wireless sensor networks (WSN) depending on their topologies. The aim of this study is to achieve efficient and reliable packet transmissions in such environments. To do so, first, we employ inter-flow network coding (NC) to reduce the number of relayed packets so that data collection delay is reduced compared with an ordinary scheme which utilizes unicast communications with acknowledgement (ACK). The inter-flow NC scheme is, however, unreliable because encoded packets are broadcasted and no ACK is executed for them. Therefore, we improve its reliability by a combination of passive ACK scheme. We call the proposed scheme by inter-flow NC with PA (IFNCPA). Through simulations, we confirm that IFNCPA scheme achieves shorter data collection delay and higher data-collection ratio compared with NC scheme and the ordinary scheme.
