Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This research compares Japanese monolinguals and Japanese-English bilinguals in terms of their acceptability of Japanese-English intrasentential code-switching. Code-switching is a bilingual ability, thus the acceptability to code-switched sentences may differ between monolinguals and bilinguals. An acceptability judgment test for Japanese-English code-switching was conducted with Japanese monolinguals and Japanese-English bilinguals as test subjects. The results indicate that monolinguals do not accept switching of noun, verb, noun phrase, and verb phrase. In contrast, the results prove that bilinguals accept noun, verb, and noun phrase switching. However, the results imply that bilinguals do not accept verb phrase switching.
