Fan-in/out Polymer Optical Waveguide for a Multicore fiber

Abstract(in English) We fabricate fan-in/out polymer optical waveguides for a multicore fiber with a 25-μm diameter and a 40-μm pitch using the Mosquito method, which has the capability of three-dimensional wiring. First, we design a fan-in/out waveguide structure applicable to the Mosquito method. Then, we realize a 10-cm long fan-in/out waveguide with seven cores, for inserting between a seven-core multicore fiber and a fiber ribbon. The lowest insertion loss of the fabricated waveguide is measured as 2.66 dB.
