Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The vibration cutting is a precise cutting method for difficult-to-cut materials mainly, and is capable of reducing the cutting resistance and the cutting heat by vibrating the edge of tool periodically. The theoretical upper limit of cutting speed is called the critical cutting speed. The region of the recommended speed for the vibration cutting is under a third of the critical cutting speed, because the chatter often occurs near the critical cutting speed. In this paper, we study the occurrence mechanism of the chatter by our nonlinear model of the vibration cutting, and clarify the causes of the chatter by simulations.
