Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Recently, mode-division multiplexing (MDM) transmission has been intensively investigated because the transmission capacity can be increased greatly by using this technology. Thus, the system also requires an amplifier. In particular, a multi-mode amplifier is essential if we are to realize a long-haul MDM transmission system. In this paper, we have proposed multimode amplifier using long period grating (LPG) for mode dependent (MDG) control. In addition, we investigate the C and L-band amplification with a 2-LP mode EDFA to further increase transmission capacity and distance.
