Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) We investigate the feasibility of measuring the inter-core crosstalk of a multi-core fiber amplifier by using an intensity-modulated light and an electrical spectrum analyzer. The method has an advantage in that it can use the same wavelength lights for the cores being measured, which is impossible with the conventional measurement approach using an optical spectrum analyzer. We show that the modulation frequency does not affect the measurement. We also show that the crosstalk values are independent of the amplifier output power if the amplifier gains are maintained when the output power changes. Furthermore, we compare our method with the conventional approach in terms of the measurement dynamic range and show that our method has an advantage when the amplifier output power is small, whereas the conventional method is preferable when the amplifier output power is large.
