Transistor characteristics of vacuum deposited thin films of naphthalene diimide derivatives with long alkyl chains

Abstract(in English) We fabricated bottom-gate and top-contact transisters with naphthalene diimide derivatives with long alkyl chains (NTCDI-Cn). As follows we deposited NTCDI-Cn thin flims by vacuum evaporation on Si wafers covered with SiO_2, and then deposited Au source/drain electrodes on them. We investigated effects of the difference of the alkyl chain length on transistor characteristics. As the number of carbon in the chain increased from the octyl group (n=8) to the pentadecyl group (n=15), electron mobility was improved. However, the mobility was clearly reduced in the case of NTCDI-Cn with octadecyl group (n=18). Electron mobility of 0.78cm^2/Vs was obtaind at n=15.
