High-precise Delay Measurements of Prioritized Packets in Network Equipments

Abstract(in English) Highly precise time synchronization via network is required. Among various causes that make the precision of time synchronization via network worse, jitters of network equipments are the main cause. This paper focuses on IEEE 802.1p priority control, that does not specify the algorithm, in network switches and measured the jitter of prioritized packets in network switches in high precision. As a result, the measurements show that the jitter in some network switches is affected by priority. And, it shows that the priority control is not sufficient to achieve highly precise time synchronization over multiple network equipments.
