| Abstract(in English) | In the Radio Regulation Board (RRB) of the ITU, where the author is serving as an elected member, the number of the agenda items relating to the disputes between countries are greatly increased these days. Most of them are the cases on the fight for seeking an orbital slot or frequency spectrum. The reason for this confusion is based on the existence of growing demands for the satellite broadcasting services that may require more orbital slots on the GSO, irrespective to whether or not they are developing or developed countries. It is also observed that the use of satellites, especially in Ku and Ka bands, is also increasing to support the entrance circuits to a number of base stations of cellular systems and/or to the aircrafts. It is well known that only a handful of countries are holding larger number of satellites and are providing broadcasting and telecommunication services to many other countries. Whereas the countries do not own enough financial background are seeking a possible way of possessing their own orbital slots. They frequently use satellite capacity lease to realize their objectives. As a result, we see many aggressive actions that may cause these disputes. In this special talk, those situations not widely known will be revealed and the author's view of the future outlook of realizing broadband satellite services will be presented. |
