Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Doppler sonar and acoustic Doppler current profiler (ADCP) use Doppler effects by assuming that the sound speed is independent of water depth, being constant. Actually, however, the sound speed in the ocean vaires with water depth and the assumption of the constant sound speed has a potential of causing some measuring error. Unfortunately, the equations of depth-dependent Doppler shift have not been reported so far so long as the authors know. Likewise, the effects of sea current on the measuring error of Doppler shift have not been reported. Accordingly, the paper derives the equations of Doppler shift by taking account of the sound speed and sea current that are dependent on propagation path. Using the derived equations, the influence of the sound speed and sea current on Doppler effects is investigated. As a result, it has been found that only the sound speeds at both the source position and target position affects Doppler effects and that the sea current does not basically affect Doppler shift.
