Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Every traditional technology has some unique engineering factors in human techniques or tools for manual processing. Kyo-wall is a Japanese traditional earthen wall inducing calm and natural atmosphere with aesthetic appearance, composed of natural materials (sand, clay, vegetable fiber and water) succeeded since 400 years ago. In this report the verification of the improvement of compound fluidity and surface finish in Kyo-wall when kneaded with old Mizunaze trowel forged by Japanese sword manner, and some analytical results for elucidating the mechanism will be presented. Also, the micro dispersion compound phase transition model mixed and kneaded at high shear rate exuding water on the compound surface will be discussed for utilizing this specific tool as a functional model.
