Abstract(in English) | Circular polarization is one of the polarization methods of radio waves that rotate the polarized wave proceeding with time. The circular polarization can be applied to MIMO transmission by right-handed circularly polarized wave and left-handed circularly polarized wave concurrently because these two waves keep orthogonally with each other. Therefore, circularly polarized MIMO can transmit independent information data at the same frequency. Further, circularly polarized wave is hardly affected by a change in communication environment due to posture variation between transmitter and receiver. This is also an advantage point of circular polarization. Therefore, the MIMO transmission composed of circularly polarized antenna would be an attractive transmission technique for broadband land mobile communications in street cell. In this study, evaluations on propagation characteristics of circularly polarized MIMO transmission method are conducted by computer simulation assuming a simple street cell model which consists of a direct wave and three reflective waves due to the road surface and buildings surrounding a road. In the simulation results, distributions of the condition number indicating the channel separation properties of MIMO transmission considering the cross polarization discrimination (XPD) of antennas and reflection coefficient of the concrete are presented. |
