Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Propagation characteristic in a lossy media need to be considered in some applications such as ultra wideband (UWB) radar for human body and ground. Antenna gain in a lossy medium is considered in this report. Friis transmission equation is extended and re-formulated to treat a lossy medium. Antenna gain calculation method using near-field is proposed and demonstrated by numerical simulation for a half-wavelength dipole antenna. Antenna gain calculation in a lossy medium was confirmed by simulation. It was found that antenna gain degrades in a lossy medium due to the coupling between near field and the lossy medium. The validity of Friis transmission equation in a lossy medium was confirmed by numerical simulation.
