Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Hue, chroma, and lightness are three components of colors. A chroma enhancement method is proposed in this report. In the proposed method, input hues are preserved to keep the impression of the input image. On the other hand, the Helmholtz-Kohlrausch (H-K) effect is known. According to it, perceived lightness is increased when only chroma is increased. In this report, we propose a chroma enhancement method which preserves perceived lightness by considering the H-K effect. The proposed color conversion is carried out in the HSL color space and it guarantees that converted colors are proper ones to digital color images.
