Abstract(in English) We have been developing a versatile voice output communication aid, "VCAN", which can be fully customized flexibly for supporting persons with communication disabilities. Such support necessitates all members of the support team to collaborate, sharing information on the aid. Conventional aids, however, have yet to allow us to share such information within this clinical field as well as each support group. In order to eliminate such limitation, this study proposed web-based versatile communication supporting system VCAN, where 1) all relating data are managed in a web server, 2) individual VCAN can be customized on a Web browser, and 3) communication aid VCAN is made on an individual information terminal with VCAN application by downloading its customization data from the server. As the first step, we developed a trial system consisting of two subsystems as follows: 1) a server-based data management subsystem and 2) an internet-based data transfer subsystem connecting the server and the terminal. An experiment for making a communication aid with several functions of VCAN customized for a child with developmental disorders demonstrated that all functions of the trial system worked well.
