Fundamental Study on Abnormal Driving Determination Method Using Android Smart Phone

Abstract(in English) In recent years Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) have been actively researched in the world to solve traffic accidents, traffic jams, environmental pollution, and so on. In this research, we aim to establish a safety driving support system using android smart phone in order to prevent lone vehicle accidents. The cause of the lone vehicle accidents is divided into temporary cause and constant cause. The former is impatience, without aim, fatigue, etc. The latter is overconfidence, inattention, inexperience, etc. A vehicle driver sometimes leads to abnormal driving by these causes. In order to detect the abnormal driving, we propose a use of android smart phone. We investigate an abnormal driving determination method by comparing the current driving state with the model driving state which is cool and well-adjusted. To show the effectiveness of the proposed method, we carry out the performance evaluations by experiments. As the results, the proposed method is able to determine the abnormal driving without miss and obtain more than 80 percent determination accuracy.
