Improvement and Performance Evaluation of Reservation Sleep Control Method for Wireless LAN Access Points based on Transport-layer Information

Abstract(in English) Reservation sleep control method is proposed for power saving control of access point (AP). In the reservation sleep control method, AP uses an access forbidden period to improve the power saving efficiency. When a high priority traffic data occurs such as VoIP data, the access forbidden period may influence on this communication because its period is fixed in the conventional method. In this paper, we propose a reservation sleep control method based on transport layer information. By using the transport layer information, the AP can control the sleep period depending on priority of data traffic. We show the improvement of the power saving efficiency by evaluating the performance of traffic and sleep rate. Computer simulation shows that to improve sleep rate by conventional reservation sleep control method.
