Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In the conventional remote lecture system using a display, there is a problem that an audience doesn't feel the presence of the speaker. For this reason, the possibility to compensate for the presence came into view by taking advantage of a telepresence robot. However, because a speaker is forced the two tasks of manipulating the robot and talking for the audience at the same time, the presence of the robot or a sense of reality of the lecture will be impaired when the speaker is concentrated on either. In this research, we aimed to improve social telepresence that means a feeling of talking face-to-face for both a speaker and an audience through reducing the burden associated with robot operation by a speaker and adding involuntary movements of a speaker to the robot. We evaluated our system where young people and elderly people with the potential needs of remote social participation took charge of speakers. Furthermore, we examined effectiveness of applying our system into elderly participation as speakers.
