Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This study investigates commonalities and differences among multiple-languages for perceiving emotional states in speech. In order to compare perceived results of emotional states among multiple-languages, a listening test is conducted. Emotional utterances from three different languages, Japanese, German and Chinese, were evaluated on Valence-Activation (V-A) space by thirty subjects from three different countries, China, Japan and Vietnam. The results reveal that positions of the neutral state in V-A space are significantly different among the subjects from different counties. Moreover, directions from neutral to other emotional states are similar for all subjects, however, distance between neutral state to other emotional states are different among subjects with different native languages. These results suggest that subjects can perceive emotions regardless of their native languages. However, the position of neutral state and the degree of other emotional states are depend on listener's native language.
