Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) In Japan, high-quality safety management and production technologies have been implemented at worksites in the steel, automotive, and chemical industries. If European technologies and social systems for machine safety are appropriately implemented based on these "on-site capabilities," a new framework of these technologies and systems based on Japan's on-site capabilities may be created. This research examined Japan's favorable laws, regulations, and social systems for machine safety while considering evidence-based safety (BBS), a concept proposed by the authors. The following four activities were discovered to be important: (1) risk reduction strategies provided by ISO 12100; (2) conformity assessments using a modular approach and marking aimed to transmit information about declarations of conformity; (3) validity confirmations made by machine users; and (4) the feedback of disaster information during a machine's design and manufacturing stages.
