Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) Head-related transfer functions (HRTFs) and directional room impulse responses (DRIRs) enable to render/synthesize spatial acoustic information. These functions include, on the one hand, the auditory cues for spatial perception and, on the other hand, the acoustic characteristics of a space. Many research groups/institutes have measured HRTF/DRIR data and stored them using different data formats. The measurement setups typically differ among measurements, e.g. the excitation signal, the spatial sampling grid, the coordinate system, the source distance, and the room conditions. This makes it difficult to use the data provided by different institutes in a unified way. The spatially oriented format for acoustics (SOFA) aims at representing HRTFs/DRIRs in a general and self-contained way. The SOFA standard has been confirmed by Audio Engineering Society (AES) and will be published soon. This report describes the idea of SOFA and its details.
