Abstract(in English) In order to tackle rapidly increasing traffic, 5th generation (5G) radio access network in mobile communications introduces small cells using higher frequency bands to expand channel capacity, and aims to achieve super high bit rate transmission realizing several tens Gbps by using Massive MIMO. In our previous work, joint fixed beamforming and channel state information (CSI)-based preceding (FBCP) was proposed for Massive MIMO transmission using higher frequency bands. In the conventional FBCP, the number of selected fixed beams is assumed to be equal to the number of streams. Therefore, in high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) region, the throughput performance of the conventional FBCP degrades from that of full digital Massive MIMO, which has the same number of digital circuits as the transmitter antennas, while achieving almost the same throughput in low SNR region. In this report, we propose an improved FBCP in order to improve the performance of Massive MIMO transmission using higher frequency bands. The proposed FBCP uses the fixed beams whose number is larger than the number of the streams. We show by link level simulation using adaptive modulation and coding up to 256QAM that the proposed FBCP can almost the same throughput performance as the full digital Massive MIMO although its computational complexity increases compared with the conventional FBCP.
