Abstract(in English) | In Super-Nyquist wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) fiber transmission systems, there is a trade-off relationship between inter-symbol interference (ISI) due to spectral narrowing and linear crosstalk from adjacent WDM channels. For optimizing such trade-off relationship, a poly-binary-pulse shaping with maximum likelihood sequence estimation (MLSE) in receivers is effective, because the poly-binary pulse shaping can make the signal bandwidth less than half of the baudrate while the ISI caused by the pulse shaping can be efficiently compensated by simple MLSE. In this paper, we numerically discuss the performance of the poly-binary-pulse shaping with MLSE for the Super-Nyquist WDM transmission systems. When QSPK and 16QAM signals with duobinary-pulse shaping and tribinary-pulse shaping are multiplexed with the WDM spacing of less than the baudrate, the crosstalk characteristics are numerically evaluated. In the case of the duobinary-pulse shaping of QPSK, the penalty from the receiver sensitivity in the Nyquist-WDM case is suppressed to be 1.2 dB in the spectral efficiency per polarization of 2.4 bit/Hz/pol. For the tribinary-pulse shaped QPSK signals, the spectral efficiency is achieved to be 2.72 bit/Hz/pol with the penalty of 5 dB. For duobinary-pulse shaping and tribinary-pulse shaping of 16QAM, the spectral efficiency is improved to be 4.4 bit/Hz/pol and 4.8 bit/Hz/pol, respectively, while the penalties are 2.5 dB and 5.6 dB. Finally, we compared the calculated relationship between the spectral efficiency and the penalty with those of the Nyquist WDM QAM signals. |
