Abstract(in English) A Dual-frequency Precipitation Radar (DPR) on board the GPM core observatory consists of Ku-band (13.6GHz) and Ka-band (35.5GHz) precipitation radars. DPR Level-1 algorithm, which provides DPR Level-1 product including received power, has been developed by the JAXA. DPR Level 2 algorithm has been developed by the DPR Algorithm Team led by Japan, which is under the NASA-JAXA Joint Algorithm Team. The Level-2 products will provide estimated precipitation rate, radar reflectivity factor, and precipitation information. This paper presents current status of activity for GPM/DPR algorithm development and initial evaluation.
