Abstract(in English) | In this paper, we studied on the number of clusters required for approximating stroke density distribution in the evaluation of intrapersonal variations and interpersonal differences concerning handwritten shapes based on Earth Mover's Distance (EMD). Experimental results for 46 kinds of Japanese Hiragana characters by 60 writers with six trials showed that the number of clusters was 6, 8 and 10 to achieve 90%, 95% and 97% of the accuracy at most dense cluster condition respectively. The required number of clusters was fairly dependent on the features of characters such as structure of strokes, total length of strokes and so on. |
