| 抄録(和) | ワーキングメモリにはイメージの短期保持に加え、そのイメージ操作も含まれる。従来研究より、保持には大脳皮質感覚連合野が、操作には前頭連合野が主に関係することが示されている。しかしこれらの各脳部位間のダイナミックな関係性については不明な点が多かった。そこで我々は、視覚・聴覚イメージ操作課題遂行時の脳波データについて時間-周波数解析を行った。視覚イメージ操作時には前頭連合野と視覚野が、聴覚イメージ操作時には前頭連合野と聴覚野がシータ波で位相同期した。さらに両イメージを保持している間に一方だけの操作を要求した条件では、操作を行ったイメージについての感覚野と前頭連合野のみが位相同期した。以上の結果は、ワーキングメモリ操作に、そのイメージ保持に関係する感覚野と操作機構である前頭連合野を結び付けるシータ波の位相同期が重要であることを示唆する。 |
| 抄録(英) | Mental manipulation of working memory is associated with the brain synchronization between frontal regions for the executive function and each sensory region. However, it is not clear about whether the synchronization is associated with manipulation or maintenance. Here, we recorded EEG data during performing auditory and visual WM tasks and compared the theta synchronizations when subjects performed either auditory or visual manipulations in separate WM tasks, or performed both two manipulations in the same WM task. The time-frequency EEG analyses revealed significant fronto-temporal theta phase synchronization during auditory manipulation in both auditory and auditory/visual WM tasks, but not during visual manipulation tasks. In contrast, the significant fronto-parietal theta phase synchronization was observed during visual manipulation tasks, but not during auditory manipulation tasks. Moreover, we observed significant synchronization in both the fronto-temporal and fronto-parietal theta signals during simultaneous auditory/visual manipulations. These findings suggest the importance of theta synchronization in manipulation but not in maintenance of WM. |
