Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) The distinction in disciplines between humanities and science courses at a university tends to be regarded as an artificial one for academic learning, which does not carry an important meaning for human behavior. In fact, in other countries outside of Japan, especially in Western countries, this distinction is not a generally-accepted one. However, a previous study suggests, using a questionnaire survey, that the distinction can affect the difference in social behavior between students or alumni in humanities course and those in science course. This study attempts to experimentally clarify whether the distinction can affect creative thinking - the performance in generating ideas regarding information technologies and services. As a result, students in humanities course could generate more creative ideas, by referring to the ideas that were generated by students in science course, than those in science course. This suggests a possibility that the difference in educational methods or disciplines themselves between humanities and science courses may affect the way of creative thinking.
