Instantaneous Frequency Measurement Method Using Phase Shift on Delay Devices

Abstract(in English) We have devised a precise frequency measurement method called PRIMO. It was proven that PRIMO has high frequency resolution by using IIR comb-filter. However the comb filter essentially has infinite impulse response, therefore the accuracy in time domain was not appropriately evaluated. Moreover, PRIMO has a drawback in estimating instantaneous amplitude inside PRIMO for required measurement accuracy. In this paper, we propose an instantaneous frequency method by two simple signal delays for frequency-phase translation in order to establish the finite-time measurement. This paper also reports the evaluation of the proposed method by FM modulated signals mainly in acoustic frequency ranges.
