Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) This paper describes technologies to interwork cellular systems with other Radio Access Technologies (RATs) such as Wireless LAN (WLAN) for the Future Radio Access and Mobile Optical Network (FRAMON). In order to tackle rapidly increasing traffic, we have proposed the extended Phantom-cell Concept (xPhC) that enables effective wireless resource management in the Future Radio Access and Mobile Optical Network. First, we describe existing inter-RAT technologies between cellular systems and WLAN systems such as ANDSF, SaMOG, IEEE802.11u as well as current WLAN standardization trends such as High Efficiency Wireless LAN (HEW). In addition, we propose inter-RAT technologies between cellular system and WLAN for the xPhC. We also clarify the effect of heterogeneous inter-RAT technologies.
