Abstract(in English) In order to cope with the dramatic growth in the amount of mobile data traffic, in LTE Rel-12 small cell enhancement (SCE), dense small cell deployment scenarios are investigated for capacity enhancement. In actual small cell environment, traffic distribution is greatly unbalanced due to restriction of small cell deployment and non-uniform user equipment (UE) distribution. Accordingly, throughput improvement by densifying the small cells would be limited due to such a non-uniform traffic distribution. Therefore, in order to improve the UE throughput in a higher traffic area, a cell selection scheme considering traffic distribution is important. In this paper, we investigate the cell selection scheme considering the amount of traffic and the reference signal received power (RSRP) in dense small cell environment. We found by computer simulation that the UE throughput performance in the small cell with high-traffic is improved. We also observe that the cell section scheme considering traffic load is beneficial to maximize the gain from densifying small cells.
