Abstract(in Japanese) (See Japanese page)
Abstract(in English) A broadband microstrip-to-quad ridged waveguide transition on a single layer is developed. In order to connect RF circuits directly with a quad ridged horn antenna, we added novel geometrical features in the printed pattern on the substrate. The proposed transition operates over a quite broad frequency bandwidth by changing the geometry of the printed pattern and controlling cutoff frequencies of the fundamental mode and higher order ones. The bandwidth 24.4 GHz (8.0:1) is obtained where the reflection level is lower than -10 dB. Furthermore, we have fabricated the quad ridged horn antenna with the proposed transition. As a result, it is also confirmed in the experiment and simulation that frequency characteristics of the reflection are almost equal at each port compared with those of the conventional coaxial-to-quad ridged waveguide.
